The role & about the client:

We are recruiting on behalf of a Main Contractor for an experienced Commercial Manager for a large scale construction project near Hayes in West London. Our client are specialists within the data, defence and energy sectors.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of the project, ensuring profitability and cost control.
• Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximize project value and mitigate risks.
• Oversee procurement processes, subcontractor management, and supplier negotiations.
• Monitor project budgets, cash flow, and financial forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, industry standards, and company policies.
• Lead the preparation and negotiation of claims, variations, and final accounts.
• Provide commercial reporting and strategic advice to senior management.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.

The ideal candidate

• Proven experience as a Commercial Manager in large-scale construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of contract management principles, particularly NEC, JCT, or FIDIC contracts.
• Excellent financial acumen, cost control, and risk management skills.
• Proficiency in commercial management software and Microsoft Excel.
• Effective negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
• Membership with RICS, CIOB, or similar professional body (preferred).
