Candidate required: Junior / Assistant Brickwork Estimator

The role & about the client:

ITS Construction Professionals South are working with an established and successful brickwork and masonry contractor who are looking to appoint a Junior / Assistant Estimator to join their team in Wokingham.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a career within brickwork estimating and pre-construction, working alongside an experienced team and gaining hands-on experience across live tenders and projects.

You will be involved in supporting the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission, learning how to price brickwork packages, complete take-offs, obtain supplier quotations and understand the commercial side of specialist construction.

The role would suit someone with some previous construction experience who is keen to develop their estimating career, or a recent construction-related graduate looking for an opportunity to progress within a specialist contractor.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting with the preparation of brickwork and masonry estimates.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Carrying out material and quantity take-offs.
• Assisting with labour and material pricing.
• Obtaining quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Updating and maintaining estimating spreadsheets and systems.
• Supporting the preparation of tender submissions.
• Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and clients where required.
• Assisting with the preparation of cost comparisons and tender breakdowns.
• Identifying potential risks, exclusions and opportunities within tenders.
• Keeping pricing information and supplier databases up to date.
• Supporting the Senior Estimator and wider commercial team.
• Learning construction methods, materials and associated brickwork costs.
• Managing multiple tenders and deadlines as experience develops.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

• Some previous experience within the construction or brickwork industry.
• An interest in developing a career in estimating and pre-construction.
• Good understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Good numeracy and analytical skills.
• Confident using Microsoft Excel and other basic IT systems.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
• Commercial awareness and an interest in construction costs.
• A construction-related qualification would be advantageous.
• Previous experience within brickwork, masonry or a specialist subcontractor would be beneficial, but is not essential.
• Full UK driving licence would be desirable.
