Associate Mechanical Design Engineer

We are working with an international, independent real estate consultancy who have an exciting opportunity for an energetic and driven Associate Mechanical Design Engineer to manage MEP Projects and work with their clients in the Northwest.

They provide specialist MEP Projects / Building Services support across a wide range of sectors, on projects of varying scale, with a key sector focus across commercial offices, industrial, retail and residential sectors.

You will be part of a collaborative team working to create a more sustainable built environment taking a hands-on approach to driving energy efficiency across their clients’ portfolios.

Key responsibilities:

Ability to lead a team of engineers, projects, resource and financial management.
Aspirations to grow the team as part of the wider business plans.
Experience in producing client briefs, fee proposals, technical design proposals, cost advice, & design reviews.
Act as a focal point for technical design control.
Able to develop client briefs, technical proposals, cost advice, design reviews, outline and scheme design reports, detailed designs, specifications, value engineering.
Ability to develop the design standards across the team and mentor junior engineers and graduates.
Partnering with the MEP Operational Engineering team providing technical mechanical input and support.

About you:

Qualified Mechanical Engineering or Building Services degree or equivalent education / practical experience.
Chartered with CIBSE/IMECHE
7+ years PQE
Consultancy background or contracting across M&E Design & Specification
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Team leadership and performance management experience.
Excellent communications skills both internal and external, with proven ability to influence and negotiate positive outcomes.
Financially astute being able to monitor fee expenditure, resource and work delivered.
Variety of project types and sizes
A good working knowledge of applicable building regulations, UK legislation, British Standards and CIBSE Guides in relation to mechanical building services.
