Plumber – Planned Maintenance (PPM)
**This role will be working in a team of two inside a category C prison**
**Please be aware that you will be required to undertake a security clearance check which will mean there is a lead time for you to start of around 3/4 weeks**

We are working in partnership with a national maintenance contractor to recruit a skilled Plumber to deliver Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) within a secure facility near Huntingdon. This is a long-term contract opportunity based at a single site within a Category C Prison, where you’ll carry out plumbing maintenance across accommodation and service areas.
You will be responsible for ensuring that plumbing systems remain safe, functional, and compliant through regular inspections and servicing.
Important good to knows
- Due to the nature of the facility, you will need to pass a security and criminal record check
- The facility is a secure unit and therefore personal items (mobile phones) will not be allowed past security checks daily
- There will be a key holder in each team and as a team you will be responsible for the safe movement, use, storage and removal of a work tool chest and required materials to complete set works
- The facility could be challenging environment for some due to it’s secure nature and security checks, so you must be happy working in and around a secure facility which houses patients and inmates
Key elements of the role and your responsibilities
- Carry out planned plumbing maintenance and safety checks in accordance with PPM schedules
- Inspect, test, and maintain hot and cold water systems, including toilets, sinks, showers, and associated pipework
- Diagnose faults, replace components, and complete minor repairs to plumbing installations
- Support the maintenance of heating and domestic water services, including flushing systems and checking TMVs
- Ensure compliance with Legionella control measures and water hygiene standards
- Complete minor multi-trade tasks when necessary (e.g. sealing, making good)
- Work collaboratively with facilities management and on-site estates teams
- Accurately complete job sheets, time records, and compliance documentation
What you need to bring to the role as the successful applicant to the
- Qualified Plumber or Plumbing & Heating Engineer with experience in PPM and facilities maintenance
- Recognised qualifications: City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing or Heating
- Experience maintaining plumbing systems in commercial or public buildings
- Knowledge of water regulations, Legionella prevention, and building services
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- CSCS card or equivalent Health & Safety awareness
- Experience in secure, healthcare or educational settings is advantageous
- Willingness to comply with security and site-specific procedures
Hours and pay
£190 per day
Working hours of 8am – 5pm

To achieve the upper pay bracket you must show good experience of working on repair contracts.
The advertised rates are based on working CIS but a PAYE and holiday payment method and rate can be discussed, but this will mean a slight reduction in the advertised headline rate.
