Assistant Estimator
The role & about the client:
On behalf of our client, ITS Construction Professionals South are recruiting for an Assistant Estimator to join a main contractor who specialises in the commercial industry. This client is looking for a permanent candidate who is ready to learn and progress on the job. To be office based in the Kent region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the preparation of tender submissions and cost estimates
- Taking off quantities and preparing bills of quantities
- Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations
- Supporting senior estimators with value engineering and cost analysis
- Maintaining and updating cost databases and tender documentation
- Attending site visits and tender meetings as required
- Working collaboratively with design, planning, and construction teams
- To be driven and to achieve and progress
- To be hands on and assist where required
- Cost planning
- Assessing levels of risk and opportunity on tenders
- Be proactive with logging and updating onto systems
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Relevant qualifications- in progress of or completed a construction related qualification
- Some experience in estimating or a pre-construction role (ideally within a main contractor or similar environment)
- Strong numerical, analytical, and IT skills (Excel, estimating software, etc.)
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- A proactive and professional approach to teamwork and learning
- Ability to provide a quick turn around during busier times
- Good presentation and written skills
