The role & about the client:
ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a busy and well-established contractor for an experienced Assistant Engineer to join their team on a live construction site in Lingfield, Surrey.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with a reputable contractor who has a strong pipeline of work across London and the South East. The role is offered on a site-based 18-month contract, providing a chance to gain valuable experience and grow within a supportive project delivery team.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assist the Site Engineer and Project Manager in day-to-day engineering duties
• Support setting out and surveying activities on site
• Help ensure construction works are carried out in accordance with drawings and specifications
• Maintain accurate site records, including quality assurance documentation and as-built data
• Monitor site progress and assist in resolving any technical issues that arise
• Work closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and the wider site team
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures

The ideal candidate will have/be:

• Previous experience in a similar role within the construction or civil engineering sector
• Working knowledge of setting out, surveying equipment, and engineering drawings
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to working in a team
• Relevant qualifications in civil engineering or construction (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)
• Able to commute reliably to site in Lingfield, Surrey
