The role & about the client:
ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a leading contractor for an experienced Technical Services Manager (M&E) to join a prestigious healthcare refurbishment project. This is an excellent opportunity to lead the M&E design coordination on a complex hospital development, including the introduction of a new MRI suite and nuclear medicine facility.
The project runs until October 2026, with strong potential to extend beyond that. You will take ownership of design management across RIBA stages 3 to 6, working alongside consultants, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver high-quality healthcare infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the design of M&E services from RIBA Stage 3–6
- Work collaboratively with M&E, architectural, and structural consultants
- Coordinate and minute design meetings, manage design agendas and programmes
- Ensure client Employer’s Requirements are met throughout the project
- Carry out and organise site surveys with the design team
- Drive value engineering initiatives with consultants
- Manage information flow from specialist suppliers
- Oversee drawing issues, approvals, and comments via the project management system
- Support procurement schedules and construction delivery programming
- Oversee commissioning and phased handovers, including snagging and O&M/H&S file compilation
- Manage the Client’s PC checklist requirements
- Produce regular project reports and updates
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- A qualification in Building Services Engineering
- 10+ years’ experience in the building services field
- A strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems
- Previous experience delivering complex healthcare or similarly technical projects
- Knowledge of HTMs (Healthcare Technical Memoranda) – highly desirable
- Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills
