The role & about the client:
 
On behalf of our client, ITS Construction Professionals South are recruiting for a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor. The client is a leading Main Contractor in the South with a consistently strong order book.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Prior to commencing on site, provide input, along with the rest of the commercial team, to the valuation master sheet by populating and formatting it, to include all variations and costs chargeable to contract.
  • Valuations to be submitted to the client/QS at the end of each month.  The QS should then follow up with the contract administrator to issue a payment certificate which can then be forwarded to admin to raise an invoice
  • Submit work in progress and accrued invoice figures to admin/commercial team at the end of each month in accordance with the financial reporting procedure document.
  • Sign off invoices submitted by sub-contractors;
  • Where applications/valuation documents are submitted by sub-contractors without an invoice, request that a formal invoice is raised so that payment may be made
  • Acquaintance with the tender package and overview of project;
  • Attend handover meeting for the project from estimating/sales to operations;
  • Attend pre-start meeting with the contracts manager, site manager and client;
  • Gain a detailed understanding of the scope of works and sub-contract packages;
  • Quickly identify specialist items potentially on a long lead time.

 
The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Incorporated within the Chartered Institute of Building;
  • BSc (Hons) degree in Construction Management preferable;
  • Analytical skills
  • Strong negotiation skills;
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to relate complex information in a simple way to a diverse range of people;
  • Strong numeracy and financial management skills;
  • Commercial awareness;
  • A clear understanding of HSE building regulations and all relevant legal requirements;
  • Software knowledge in Outlook, Excel, Word, Sage, Eque 2, Project.
