The role & about the client:
ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing principal contractor for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Bursledon, Hampshire.
Our client specialises in delivering design and build projects across the healthcare, leisure, defence and industrial sectors, taking full responsibility from initial concept through to construction, fit-out and final handover. Their integrated approach provides clients with a single point of accountability, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely and to the highest standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Junior Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a supportive and experienced commercial team. You will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, assisting with cost management, procurement and commercial administration across a diverse range of projects.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Assisting with the commercial management of construction projects from pre-construction through to final account.
– Supporting the preparation of cost plans, valuations, variations and financial reports.
– Assisting with subcontractor procurement, package evaluations and contract administration.
– Monitoring project costs and helping to identify opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiencies.
– Supporting the measurement and valuation of works completed on site.
– Assisting with the preparation and submission of interim applications and final accounts.
– Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation.
– Working closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
– Supporting the commercial team in managing risks and maintaining project profitability.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
– Degree qualified or working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
– Previous experience within a Quantity Surveying role, placement year or construction environment would be advantageous.
– Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
– Good understanding of construction processes and commercial principles.
– Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
– Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel.
– Eager to learn, develop and build a long-term career within the construction industry.
– Full UK driving licence preferred.
